Apollo 13 Simulation
Seminar Code: N201E
Put yourself in the shoes of the Apollo 13 team and learn about ITIL® processes along the way!
This simulation game provides a real insight into the implementation and practical use of ITIL® processes. A complete service delivery lifecycle will evolve over the course of the simulation and the outcome will be evaluated using weighted performance indicators.
Participants re-enact an extremely true-to-life implementation of the Apollo 13 rescue mission. The resulting findings and experiences will be reflected upon under professional guidance, in relation to their application in the daily workplace. Several teams can take part in the simulation simultaneously, which increases excitement and enthusiasm no end!

In four different phases, participants explore the theory behind each of the ITIL® Service Management processes, which have been adapted to the real Apollo 13 rescue mission. Working in a team, participants take over the work of the mission control centre. Their goal is to bring the damaged space ship and its crew safely back to earth.
Participants become familiar with ITIL® concepts and practices in this light-hearted environment, using real history and a true-to-life situation.
Participants work within a team of 8-12 participants from the mission control centre. The day is divided into the four stages of the Apollo 13 mission. The team will be confronted with unexpected circumstances, will need to overcome hurdles and must always remember – time’s ticking away!
The only way to ensure the safe landing of Apollo 13 on earth, together with the survival of her crew, is to put ITIL® processes to use. Effective teamwork and proactive negotiation are the only means to prevent the crash and ensure the survival of the crew.
